CITIES WE VISITED

FIRST STOP: Also known as the "Home of Country Music", Nashville is
a major music recording and production center. Located near the
Grand Ole Opry, the Opryland Hotel is just as popular as a tourist attraction.

There are 9 acres of indoor gardens,

lush landscape and over 2, 800 rooms.

Beautiful cascading waterfalls and an indoor river with its own Delta flatboat for guests make this place a must see!

The Grand Ole Opry House, unfortunately, was closed the one day we were in town.

Brian and Emmett are Nascar fans so we stopped in for a quick visit at Nashville's Nascar Racing Center. The boys were able to get a close up of their favorite cars.

Brian's favorite was Dale Earnhardt's Number 3 car.

Meanwhile, Emmett liked Jeff Gordon's Number 24.

OUR SECOND STOP IN TENNESSEE: MEMPHIS

We spent several days in Memphis since there were a few places that we wanted to visit.

In downtown Memphis, the luxurious Peabody Hotel attracts many visitors.
This famous hotel houses Memphis' famous ducks. A time honored tradition since 1933, the ducks march to the Italian marble fountain in the lobby as visitors snap photographs of their journey. They have come from their duck palace on the rooftop, ride the elevator down to the lobby, walk across the red carpet into the fountain. At 5:00 p.m. the ceremony is reversed.

Sun Studio was our next stop. In 1951 this studio was called the Memphis Recording Service. It earned the title of "Birthplace of Rock and Roll" after Ike Turner and Jackie Brenston recorded 'Rocket 88' which had a sound no one ever heard before. Rock and Roll had been born. Many artists recorded here over the years but one of its' most famous artists was Elvis Presley who first visited the studio at 18 years old with a guitar in hand.

The highlight of our trip to Memphis was a tour of Graceland. It was the home of Elvis Presley from 1957 until his death in 1977. .
The mansion is the first stop of the tour....

We also walked onboard his private jet named after his daughter..

His tear- drop shaped pool behind the house...

His final resting place is located on the grounds in the meditation gardens.

Other areas on site included his cars, clothing, and personal memorabilia.

Our evening in Memphis ended with a night at the ballpark
featuring the Memphis Redbirds (Cardinals AAA team )
